 Searching In The Black
« Thread Started on Oct 14, 2007, 5:28pm »

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.

He said, "Son when you grow up,
would you be the savior of the broken,
the beaten and the damned?"
He said "Will you defeat them,
your demons, and all the non-believers,
the plans that they have made?"
"Because one day I'll leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join The Black Parade."

The moon hung high in the black sky. A few stars twinkled about, spread across the open air. But other than the light of those few space objects,it was dark. It was hard to see the piles apon piles of junk, scattered amonst the land. Giant conecret walls rose up,however,to block off this landfill. The only way in was a large entrance near the front. It was just big enough for trucks to back in and dump the trash they held.
Two half broken street lamps sat on the side of the entrance. Their bulbs were busted and they hadn't worked in a long time. So it was hard to spot the dog that was standing near there. Dull brown eyes shone in the night, and that was all anyone could see of him. The rest was invisible under the black coat of the night.

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said, "Son when you grow up,
would you be the savior of the broken,
the beaten and the damned?"

Suddenly, the dog darted away from the hole and went racing straight towards a huge mound of trash. It was obviously from a restraunt, because the reek of spoiled food rose up above all. But the pit bull didn't seem to mind as he dove in. Soon, the mutt rose again. A chicken leg,a pretty good size, dangled from his watering mouth. Quickly he leapt out and shook himself, riding his fur of any filthy trash. Then, with his dinner in his jaws,he began to trot near the back. The piles got bigger and bigger, and soon they were looming over Zegus. He ignored them completley as he pounced up. Debri tumbled down after him before becoming lost in the piles. Soon he was standing at the top, looking over everything. His chest was puffed out,as if challenging anyone to get close.

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me.
And other times I feel like I should go.
And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets.
And when you're gone we want you all to know.

We'll carry on,
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it.

As Zegus settled down, chicken leg between his paws,he couldn't help but remembered his sister. They had done this many times before together. She would always scrounge while he would pick out the tallest mound of filth. And then they would sit up there and enjoy their finds. Now,he couldn't do that. Lita was probably dead by now. For he had left her,his own sister, out on the streets. Just so he could join some stupid gang! Growling,he ripped a huge chunck out of the meat before sending it tumbling down the hill.

A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all.
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call

To carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches

On and on we carry through the fears
Ooh oh ohhhh
Disappointed faces of your peers
Ooh oh ohhhh
Take a look at me cause I could not care at all

A sound roused Zegus from his thoughts, and he jumped up. His paws almost slipped out from underneath him,but the brown mutt managed to stay balanced. A growl rumbled deep in his chest, and he barked out
"Who goes there!" Curiousity and anger surging through him,he dashed down the pile an up to the entrance. No one was to be seen. But he had heard someone, that was the truth. But who?

Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
I! don't! care!

Sometimes I get so weird
I even freak myself out
I laugh myself to sleep
It's my lullaby
Sometimes I drive so fast
Just to feel the danger
I wanna scream
It makes me feel alive

Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please

Little light was shed on the quiet city, the moon but a thin crescent overhead. The only noise disturbing the silence was the faint sound of tiny, pattering paws. Barely distinguishable because of his ebony fur, a small mutt loped at an easy pace down the sidewalks of the silent town. He seemed to be alone, hidden in the shadows of the overhanging buildings. He skirted a dark alleyway, hoping to avoid any confrontations from the gangs he had heard so much about. A naturally shy and kind soul, the small schnauzer-mix preferred being on his own. He wasn't anti-social really - just timid. Looking at him closely, you couldn't really blame him. A small, old mutt wandering the streets by himself; quite an easy target, hm?

To walk within the lines
Would make my life so boring
I want to know that I
Have been to the extreme
So knock me off my feet
Come on now give it to me
Anything to make me feel alive

An enticing scent wafted toward the brute and he stopped in his tracks. Raising his greying muzzle into the air, he found where the smell was coming from and he continued on his way. He had been searching for food; perhaps luck was on his side today. Piles upon piles of trash loomed before him - he had arrived at the Junkyard. Looking about him, he couldn't see anyone coming. He knew most of the humans would be asleep by now, but that wasn't what he was worried about. Sure, a dog catcher wouldn't be a welcome sight, but at this hour there was only one thing he could be watching out for.
Other dogs. More specifically, packs or gangs.

Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please.

Spotting no immenent danger, the little dog scampered over to the other side of the street, quickly darting out of the light of the lamp that glowed brightly overhead, the only source of light visible, and waited in the shadows. The thought of food being so near, he was quickly drawn towards it, his mouth watering at the prospect of his upcoming meal. Slinking through the gate he stood in awe beneath a towering pile of trash; food. He breathed deeply, letting the scents wash over him. At this point, he wondered whether it would be wiser to scout out anything edible by sight rather than smell, considering how many scents were wreathing around him. Padding slowly through the mounds of trash, he searched for his meal.

Let down your defences
Use no common sense
If you look you will see
that this world is a beautiful
accident turbulent suculent
opulent permanent, no way
I wanna taste it
Don't wanna waste it away

Sometimes I get so weird
I even freak myself out
I laugh my self to sleep
It's my lullaby

At last the brute found a bone protruding out of a small pile. He eagerly rushed towards it, a bit too hastily. Pulling it out, the tiny mound of trash collapsed, scattering its contents with a reverberating sound. Usually the brute would have immediately looked around, hoping no one had heard. But he was too immersed in his meal to pay much attention to the trouble he had just gotten himself into.
The bone was medium-sized - a bit large for a dog of his size. He carried his prize over to a seemingly secluded spot, not noticing who he had disturbed. Looking up after getting settled, Max was almost startled out his fur; a black shape was rising out of the trash. His bone forgotten, he stared wide-eyed as the dog called out menacingly; 'Who goes there?' Instead of answering, the little dog just stood there, cowering in fear. His ears plastered on his head, tail held low, he slowly started backing away, as if fear was gripping his tongue.

Is it enough?
Is it enough?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please

Is it enough?
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please.

Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back
Says I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do

You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Use the needle of your compass
To sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie
In a bottle of Jim Beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth

If you're going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

His orbs glittered threatingly as he glanced around. An errie silence seemed to blanket the junkyard as the pit bull looked for whoever had disturbed him. Sharp claws grazed the ground, and siliva dripped from menecing fangs. A threating looking dog. Growling,he began to trot around, digging his claws deep into the ground this time.
"Come out, come out, where ever you are!" He tried his best to make his voice as sweet sounded as possible, but that was like trying to make a hyper-active human's dog to sit still. Instead, the words came out venom like with sharp pointed edges. Zegus cursed himself quickly. Now the dog would run away for certain.

Well I been deep down in that darkness
I been down to my last match
Felt a hundred different demons
Breathing fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled
I'd fall right into the trap that they were laying, yeah

But the good news
Is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holding out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been dragginig for so long
You're on your knees
You maight as well be praying
Guess what I'm saying

If your going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

Again Zegus barked, warning the dog to leave or face the consiquences. By this time,he was getting anxious to see who was here. Was it another gang member? He smiled just a bit, hoping it was. That would mean a possible fight. And it might just be a challenge. Or,it could be one of those Pack members. That would prove interesting. And last,it could be a wanderer. Half of him hoped it would be the last one. They were much easier to fight. Suddenly,Zegus turned a curb and stopped dead in his tracks. Standing in front of him, tail between his legs, was a small dog. His lips curled up into a smile like snarl, and he stepped even closer.
"Hello there."
